RITUAL AND CEREMONY

Ritual is an important feature of Oddfellowship for many members. It is the route through which they achieve high office within the Society.

Many Lodge meetings in North London District are conducted with ritual and registered new members are asked to take part in a simple registration ceremony on attending their first meeting.

It is hoped that they will then go on to be initiated into the Order of Oddfellows, because it is only through that route that they can fully participate in Lodge Meetings.

The next stage is for members to advance in a series of steps known as “Degrees”.

These “Degrees” are conferred in particular types of Ritual Lodges.

In North London District, the initial stages are conferred at the:

North London District Minor Degree Lodge   [Click for further information]

Once a member has received the minor degrees, held office in his or her Lodge and taken the Past Officer’s Degrees, he or she can elect to become a member of Provincial Grand Lodge by taking a final degree.

Then, a member becomes entitled to attend meetings of the:

North London District Lodge of Past Grands   [Click for further information]

If they decide to delve further into the ritual of the Society, they may also choose to join the
