About the Temple of Peace Lodge

The Temple of Peace Lodge was established on 22nd July 1844 in Epping. Registered under the Friendly Societies Act 1875 as a branch of the Independent of Oddfellows, Manchester Unity Friendly Society, and of the North London District on 21st June 1897.

In 1990 the Stanley Lodge which met in Enfield and the Fairfax Lodge, which met in Highams Park, merged with the Temple of Peace Lodge. Over the years the Lodge met in hired accommodation – pubs, clubs, church halls etc., and until 2003 always in Epping. It was then decided to meet in a Methodist Church hall in Highams Park E4. This decision was taken in order to accommodate the majority of attending members who lived in that surrounding area.
