FRIENDSHIP WALK.

Going the Extra Mile.

Stratford &

The Olympic Park

Wednesday 10th March

Eleven members from North and South London Districts and two members of Unity staff joined Keith Potter for a two hour stroll around the Bow Backs and the River Lea and had an opportunity to view progress on the Olympic Park

From Stratford station they joined the Channelsea Path to look at the Greenway, set to be a major walking link to the Olympic Games Site. From here strolled to Three Mills Green and the brand new Three Mills lock opened in 2009. Then it was on to Three Mills, where they saw the exterior of some of the oldest tidal mills in the country.

After following the River Lea for a short distance, they turned back onto the Greenway to reach the View Tube a modular construction designed to allow close views into the Olympic Park.

After a break for light refreshments they returned to Stratford station.

A total of 50 miles was added to the cumulative figure for the Unity Friendship Walk

The walk formed part of the Unity 2010 Friendship Walk, which is designed to cover an overall 2010 miles this year.
